Our international service Metabooks offers publishers and booksellers a comprehensive infrastructure for standardized, high quality metadata management. The system is based on the technology of VLB, the leading bibliographic database used in the German-speaking book industry.
With Metabooks/VLB you get a centralized platform for the automated exchange of product information such as bibliographic metadata, content details, target group recommendations, and more. With Metabooks, publishers have a powerful platform to market their titles and booksellers can get all the information they need to make the right buying decisions and grow sales.
Metabooks/VLB has been in operation since 1971. It was completely rebuilt and modernized in 2015 and expanded to South America in 2017

The North American book trade’s EDI community
Pubnet is one of the largest value-added networks for the book trade worldwide. It unites a vast range of retailers, from large chains to independent bookstores, on a single, standardized online e-commerce platform.
Pubnet helps booksellers save time and money with direct electronic ordering. Because it links seamlessly with most of the leading Point-of-Sale systems, the hard work of ordering direct from the publisher is simpler and more cost effective. Supported messages include purchase orders, purchase order acknowledgments, as well as shipping notifications, invoices and more. With Pubnet, users can conduct their business through a single network rather than maintaining trading relationships with hundreds of individual partners.
Currently, over 1,000 publishers and suppliers, as well as nearly 2,000 retailers use the platform, allowing participants to save valuable time and money when managing orders directly.
MVB also operates IBU, a comparable system in Germany which helps the book trade to efficiently manage its orders.

Pubeasy
The global source of vital customer service information
MVB Pubeasy connects over 3,500 booksellers with some of the biggest North American publishing houses, such as Elsevier, Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins Publishers, Oxford University Press and Penguin Random House. Through Pubeasy, booksellers around the world can check current prices, stock availability, and order status from many of their major suppliers on a single platform. Pubeasy can also be used as an ordering platform for smaller booksellers and other retailers who are not EDI capable.
